Under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah Al Mubarak Al Sabah, Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs in the State of Kuwait and Chairman of the Central Agency for Information Technology (CAIT), a ceremony was held on Wednesday, 30/04/2016 in Kuwait City to honor the winners of the Smart Government Shield in the Arab region for the most advanced applications that take into account the needs of the beneficiary.

By the grace of God, Al Amoudi Hospital, United Doctors in Saudi Arabia, Jeddah, won the Excellence Award in the category of the best Arabic smart applications for the health authorities and bodies sector in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, for the distinguished electronic services provided by the United Doctors application on various operating systems for smart phones, in addition to a health education library that deals with public health fields.

Speaking to the media, the Director General of United Doctors Hospital, Mr. Ali bin Salem Al-Subaie, congratulated His Excellency the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the hospital and Chairman of Al-Amoudi Holding Group, Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Aboud Al-Amoudi, as well as all hospital employees for their active contribution in achieving this achievement, which comes within a series of successive successes achieved by the hospital in terms of health leadership, electronic services and social responsibility, indicating that the hospital is in the process of developing a strategic development plan for the next stage in line with the strategic vision of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia 2030 and

For his part, Mr. Fahad Al-Rifai, Administrative Director of the hospital, explained that this victory and excellence is not surprising for the hospital, in which the management represented by His Excellency the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors and members of the Executive Board are always keen to develop the services provided and diligently research the use of technology in the completion of services, which reflected on the job performance and overall evaluation of achievement in the hospital.

In his answer to the extent to which the activation of smart services reflected on the operational process in the hospital, Mr. Raddad Abbas, the operational manager, stated that the launch and activation of smart services in the hospital helped a lot in shortening some periodic processes that used to take time and effort and affect the daily operational process, as appointment booking and waiting times were reduced in addition to dispensing with the need for the customer to visit the hospital for analysis results, as appointments can be booked and modified in addition to viewing and receiving analysis results by using smart applications and we hope in the future to apply electronic payment procedures to save the customer

Dr. Basil Ayoub, Director of the Quality Department at the hospital, explained that all electronic services provided by the hospital are periodically tested and subjected to continuous service development methodologies by soliciting the opinions of customers and beneficiaries and comparing with successful local and international experiences in this field while ensuring commitment and continuous compliance with all standards of the Health Insurance Council (Sabahi) and the Australian Council for Medical Quality (ACHSI) and all this to ensure that the hospital is keen to provide a healthy experience.

In response to the services provided by the smart application of the United Doctors Hospital, Dr. Essam Abdo, Director of Patient Education and Supervisor of the website and smart applications, said that the services provided by the application are many, varied and interactive, touching the needs of patients. The user can book outpatient appointments through the application and can view the results of analyzes and radiographs and stand on graphs showing the development of his health status in the most important medical analyzes during the same year or previous years and then stand the truth about his health status in terms of improvement or otherwise, and the application is replete with many health awareness services.

It is worth mentioning that many entities and sectors were honored during the awards ceremony from a number of Arab countries. A number of sectors from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia were honored, as United Doctors Hospital, the General Directorate of Passports, Taif Governorate Municipality, Nabhanieh Governorate Municipality, and Unaiza Governorate Municipality received excellence awards in the health, security, and municipal fields.

Dubai Police General Command, Al Ittihad Newspaper, Emirates Today, Dubai Roads and Transport Authority, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, Sharjah Planning and Survey Department, Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization, Ministry of Infrastructure Development, Dubai Health Authority, Securities and Commodities Authority, Department of Economic Development – United Arab Emirates.

The General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) and the Ministry of Planning, Follow-up and Administrative Reform from the Arab Republic of Egypt were also honored.

In addition to the Ministry of Public Health, the Agricultural Scientific Research Department of the Lebanese Republic.

As well as the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities and the Civil Service Bureau from the Kingdom of Bahrain.

As well as the Department of General Iftaa from the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

From Kuwait, the Kuwait Police, the Central Agency for Information Technology, the Public Authority for Industry, and the Kuwait News Agency’s Media Partner Shield from the State of Kuwait received awards of excellence.

The Public Authority for Consumer Protection, the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs, the Unified Admission Center, the Public Prosecution, the Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs, and the Ministry of Education from the Sultanate of Oman.

Finally, the Ministry of Economy and Trade from the State of Qatar.

It is noteworthy that the Smart Government Shield Award is the largest award for smart applications in the Arab world. It is held in cooperation with the Arab Organization for Social Responsibility and sponsored by the Central Agency for Technology in Kuwait for years to award creativity in the design and development of websites and applications, and the abilities of Arab governments and institutions to keep pace with the global development in the field of service websites and show their creativity through the best application competition in the Arab world
