Checked NIPT
NIPT stands for Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing, which is a non-invasive prenatal test performed to estimate the chances of genetic abnormalities or chromosomal abnormalities in a pregnant woman’s fetus
When to perform a NIPTWhen is a NIPT test performed?
This test is usually performed starting from the 10th week of pregnancy and aims to accurately determine the sex of the baby and rule out possible genetic diseases in the fetus such as:

- Edwards syndrome
- Patau syndrome
- Turner syndrome
How is the Examination NIPNIP test?
The NIPT test is performed by following the steps below:
- Blood sampling: A small sample of the expectant mother’s blood is drawn.
- Separation of fetal cells: Fetal cells are separated from the mother’s blood, as this blood contains the DNA of the fetus.
- DNA analysis: At this stage, the fetal DNA in the sample is analyzed to assess genetic abnormalities and chromosomal abnormalities.
- Determine the sex of the fetus: This test helps determine the exact sex of the fetus.
- Providing results: The results are sent to the husband and wife to provide a better understanding about the condition of the fetus.
NIPT does not require a surgical procedure and is considered safe for the pregnant woman and the fetus. However, pregnant women are always advised to consult their doctor about any diagnostic procedure or test to make sure it is appropriate for their specific health condition and needs.
When are the test results released?
The turnaround time for NIPT results depends on the lab performing the analysis and their internal policies. Generally, test results are expected within 7 to 14 days of the blood sample being taken.
