Smoking is an impediment to fulfilling our mission as health care providers
Many hospitals have made all facilities tobacco smoke-free, including buildings, parking lots and other property.
United Doctors Hospital tries to enforce a zero-tolerance policy towards smoking by indicating that employees cannot smoke while in uniform, as well as while wearing the hospital’s badge.
Smoke detectors have been installed throughout the hospital to ensure that patients, visitors and staff adhere to the stated policies on smoking and to ensure that patients, visitors and staff are safe from any risk of fires, of which cigarettes are the primary cause. To summarize, smoking is not permitted in all hospital facilities to ensure patient health and safety.
