examine various organs of the body such as the liver, pancreas, gallbladder, uterus, prostate, and blood vessels

Steps of the ultrasound exam

The test may require special preparation such as fasting or filling the bladder by drinking large amounts of water

The pregnant woman lies on the examination bed on her back, and the area to be examined is covered with a gel

The scanner probe is placed over the gel, moved in different directions, and the baby’s image will appear on the ultrasound screen

The exam is performed in a dimly lit room so that the specialist can get good pictures of your baby

At the end of the exam, the pregnant woman is provided with towels to wipe off the gel

Once the test is over, the pregnant woman can resume eating normally

The test result is automatically transmitted to the attending physician through the hospital’s information system

The sex of the baby is not announced unless the pregnant woman requests it from her doctor

If you want to find out the sex of your baby, you can usually do so during a mid-pregnancy checkup at week 18 through week 21 of pregnancy

<img fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" class="alignnone wp-image-12672311 " take?

The ultrasound scan takes 20 to 30 minutes, depending on the area to be scanned

Other conditions for which a 3D scan/ultrasound is indicated

Your doctor may order an ultrasound in these cases:

If you have abdominal pain

Yellowing of the face color

sterility

Unexplained weight loss

Benefits of 3D scan/ultrasound for pregnant women

Checking on the baby’s size, growth and health

To be aware of the number of fetuses in her uterus (single or twins)

Show the position of your baby and the placenta, which may determine the type of delivery, whether natural or cesarean

Are there any side effects of a 3D scan/ultrasound

Ultrasound is considered a very safe test, so it is used to visualize the fetus to follow its development inside the womb, noting that neither the pregnant woman nor the fetus is exposed to any type of radiation in this test.

Book a delivery appointment at United Doctors Hospital

<a
